Micro SD and Your ST4
All new Spectrum ST4 units include a microSD card, which is used to update the firmware of the unit with new fixes and features. Each card is configured and tested to work with your Spectrum. Check out this article for full instructions on updating your firmware, and a list of fixes and improvements with each firmware version
What to do if You Lose Your MicroSD Card
We recommend using the included card to update your firmware. If you lose the card, it is possible to use your own. Follow the instructions below to configure the card to work with your Spectrum.
- Using any class 4 (speed) microSD card, erase any existing files. While the firmware files are small (<1mb), the ST4 will look for a specific folder structure.
- Use an SD adapter to connect the card to your computer, and open it your device manager (Windows) or disk utility (Mac). Format the card as 'Fat32' (On newer computers, this may appear as MSDOS-FAT, in the format menu).
- Under the card root directory, create a folder named 'update' (all lowercase). Your firmware file will go in this folder when you want to update.
- We also recommend you, add a "tape tail" to any card you put into the spectrum to make fishing it out easier!
If you need to purchase a new card, you can find them in our store.
