How long does the remote battery last?
The Dualshock 4 remote uses a built in 1000mAh battery as it’s power source. Generally, for a new remote on a single charge, we get around 8 hours of connection. As the remote ages, the battery no longer can sustain 8 continuous hours of use, but generally will last around 6 hours depending on how it’s being used and how its power is being managed.
How can I extend battery life?
With typical use, the battery will last 6-8 hours, assuming the controller is relatively new. In special cases, consider the following to save yourself some juice:
- The controller is capable of functioning with the ST4 even when plugged into power. If available, plug the controller into a computer USB port to charge it while in use.
- If power is unavailable for a longer shoot, holding the center “PS” button will shut down the remote. This is useful once the spectrum is running a programmed move. To control with the remote simply turn it back on. Pairing is automatic.
- In cold weather, the battery is susceptible to draining quickly. We recommend keeping it close to your body in either a jacket or pants pocket to help extend the charge.
