While the Dualshock4 remote offers the most intuitive method of controlling your Spectrum, the on-board Navigation Joystick, or NavStick, can be used in a pinch and still features full functionality.
With the NavStick, you'll be able to navigate through the Spectrum ST4's menus, adjust parameters, and move and program all 4 axes without the remote. This is useful if you want to pack light for a trip, have misplaced your remote, or need a back up option for controlling your Spectrum ST4.
For reference, the NavStick maps to the controller as follows:
- 4-way Directional (up, down, left, right): This is contextual.
- In the menu screens, this functions exactly the same as the D-Pad controls on the controller. Use the NavStick to navigate menus using up and down. Left on the NavStick returns to the previous menu.
- In the "programmed shots" menu, the NavStick maps to the controls of each joystick. The first selection of either "start point" or "end point" allows you to move the pan of your camera using left and right on the NavStick and tilt using up and down. Pressing the center button again will select M3/M4 controlled with left/right and up/down, respectively.
- Center button: Press in on the center of the NavStick to select a menu option or to lock in a selection.
